ABOUT IRSG
Ipswich Robotics Sports Group (IRSG) was founded in 2016 by Julie Pitts and Miles Blow, two artists and filmmakers with a passion for building and battling robots.
With backgrounds in art, film and special effects, Julie and Miles have spent years designing, building and competing with their own robots, including their heavyweight robot, DeathRoll, at BattleBots in Los Angeles.
Inspired by the Antweight competitions they saw in America, they returned to Queensland determined to encourage more people to build and battle robots. They built their own arenas, created a fleet of Antweight robots and established IRSG.
BUILD • LEARN • BATTLE
IRSG brings together people from all walks of life who share a love of creativity, problem-solving and a little friendly competition.
Our competitions include 150g Antweights, 1.36kg Beetleweights and 5.44kg Hobbyweights, with destructive and non-destructive classes for our smaller robots.
But IRSG is about much more than winning battles. Building fighting robots combines skills such as 3D printing, CAD, electronics, welding, metalwork, art and creative design.
Through competitions, demonstrations, workshops and build days, we encourage people to learn new skills, share ideas and discover what they can create.
Whether you're an experienced builder, a complete beginner or simply curious about robot fighting, you're welcome to come along, meet the builders and get involved.
You don't have to be an engineer to build a fighting robot.
We want you to build so we can fight you!
